Pedro Acosta won the Malaysian Grand Prix Sprint Race ahead of future teammate Marc Marquez in a thrilling Saturday shootout.
The KTM star showed why he's MotoGP's most exciting prospect by mastering the rainy conditions in Sepang to take the win from third on the grid.
Capping off the podium was Marco Bezzecchi, who lost two points to Marquez in the title fight, extending the gap to the leader to 52 points.
| Rider | Points |
| Marc Marquez | 374 |
| Jorge Martin | 355 (-19) |
| Marco Bezzecchi | 322 (-52) |
All three riders could've been further down the order with pole-sitter Alex Marquez showing excellent pace off the line, leaving brother Marc down in fourth.

However, as soon as rain began to fall and riders were allowed to swap bikes, Alex Marquez was the first victim as he crashed out at Turn 14 on lap 3.
Ogura takes the lead, Acosta slips through
Riders then began to swap to their second bikes equipped with wet-weather tyres, and it was Trackhouse's Ai Ogura who shone, taking the lead.
But it wasn't long before things neutralised, and Acosta took Ogura, who was then passed by Marquez and Bezzecchi.
Bezzecchi will be the only threat to Marquez's 10th title in Malaysia, with Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin withdrawing from the event during qualifying.

Martin broke his wrist last time out in Australia, and attempted to keep going in Malaysia, but the pain and difficulty in braking proved too much.
As a result, Marquez was able to extend his title lead to 19 points over Martin, and 52 over Bezzecchi who really needs to be beating the Ducati rider in every event if he's to take his first title.
