Lewis Hamilton's FP2 session at the Mexico City Grand Prix has been cut short. The Briton had to stop his Ferrari 30 minutes into the session.
Due to a technical issue, Hamilton had to pull over on the start-finish straight at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez during the second session of the day.
The Ferrari driver reported over the team radio that something was wrong with his car and that he had begun losing power after Turn 13. His race engineer, Carlo Santi, then told the seven-time world champion to pull over and stop his car. This led to a brief Virtual Safety Car period.
Hamilton is currently fourth in FP2, sitting five tenths of a second behind his teammate Charles Leclerc. The Briton will have another free practice session tomorrow to fine-tune his car ahead of qualifying on Saturday.
