MotoGP returns to Balaton Park this weekend for the Hungarian Grand Prix, and Aprilia continue to lead the way in the world championship thus far. Marc Marquez, who returned from injury in Mugello last weekend, will be hoping for an improved performance on a more technical and less physically demanding track. The track, which sits just next to the picturesque Lake Balaton, is one of the strangest on the calendar for a number of reasons. First, it is one of the narrowest tracks and can make overtaking hard, even for MotoGP bikes. The next thing is that the majority of the track is taken at low gears, meaning that precision rather than speed is the key to a good lap here.
Last year, Marc Marquez won the race after a back-and-forth battle with
Marco Bezzecchi, and we can only hope for something similar again this weekend.
Jorge Martin will also be one to watch around here, the 2024 World Champion achieved a heroic P4 finish at the circuit last year despite still being nowhere near 100% fitness at the time.
