Reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez shared some footage of his recovery process following his horrible injury in Le Mans, with Ducati targetting a Mugello return for the Spanish legend. Marquez, who has already suffered extensive injuries to his right shoulder throughout his career, recently underwent an operation to have a loose screw removed which was pressing on his radial nerve. Having also broken the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot
during the French GP crash, a second operation was also performed to speed up the repairing process.
Marquez has shown once again that he’s a superhero.
- Davide Tardozzi, Ducati Team PrincipalNow, the seven-time premier class champion is continuing his rehabilitation at home with weighted exercises, and it seems that he could be back to full fitness in time for Ducati's home Grand Prix. Posting to his instagram story, Marquez shared footage of himself testing the balance and stability of his newly-operated shoulder at his home in Cervera, Spain.
While typically these injuries would take months to heal, MotoGP riders often return to racing far sooner than expected. Earlier in the year, Gresini's
Fermin Aldeguer suffered a broken femur, and only missed out on a single round before returning to compete again.
Tardozzi: Marquez is a Superhero
Ducati team boss Davide Tardozzi was keen to stress that he would rather Marquez returns in 100% condition rather than to return as early as possible. Speaking with DAZN ES, Tardozzi had the following to say about the 93's recovery process:
"Marc is very happy, because all these operations have lifted a weight off his shoulders – a problem that, right from the start of the season, was clearly holding him back.
"Right now, the most important thing is for Marc to recover and get back on the bike in good shape. However long it takes, we’ll see. We’re waiting for him. When he returns, I think he’ll still give us plenty of reasons to celebrate.

"Marquez has shown once again that he’s a superhero, knowing what was going on and what the doctor told us. He’s a superb rider. He did something incredible, because given the situation his body was in, no other rider could have done what he did.
"But if for any reason he can’t be at Mugello, of course, we’ll replace him."
Marquez Out of the Title Fight Already?
Having missed two key rounds already and suffering crashes in both Thailand and Jerez, Marquez currently finds himself
85 points behind championship leader
Marco Bezzecchi. Many believe that the championship is now a two-way battle between
Aprilia teammates Bezzecchi and
Jorge Martin, though Fabio Di Giannantonio's recent win in Catalonia has closed his gap to the top two slightly.
The season has been nothing short of disastrous for the Ducati Lenovo Team, neither Marquez or teammate
Francesco Bagnaia have managed to secure a race win in 2026, and Bagnaia only found himself on the Catalonia podium thanks to
a string of penalties handed out to riders ahead of him.
While Marquez has claimed a few solid sprint results, including a surprise win in Jerez and a P2 finish in Thailand, he hasn't managed to assert any kind of serious challenge to the frontrunners on Sundays. With that said, there are still sixteen more rounds to go in the championship and plenty of points up for grabs.
