The MotoGP ‘Silly Season’ is more bonkers than ever with a new Concorde Agreement signed between teams and owners triggering a domino effect of announcements.
Ducati dropped three bombshells in a matter of days in response, with teams gearing up for a new era of rules next season.
Engines swap from 1000cc to 850cc in response to increased speeds, while Pirelli will begin their tyre era, aerodynamic enhancements are reduced, and a number of technical changes come into play.
As such, the entire grid had contracts that expired at the end of 2026, but now new deals are being penned up and down the paddock in rapid succession.
With such an overhaul in the regulations, it’s anyone's guess where the best landing spot will be, as faltering Japanese giants
Honda and
Yamaha may have the chance to leapfrog the dominant Ducati and rapid
Aprilia.
World champions and race winners are up for grabs, and much like their exceptional bike craft, Ducati were just as quick and clever in the drivers’ market…

Dominant Italian manufacturer Ducati entered 2026 with plenty of questions, and then they soon got even more.
Marc Marquez ended his 2025 title-winning season injured, and 2026 began in the same vein, ending with a teary Le Mans exit and retirement fears.
As night follows day, Marquez made yet another remarkable comeback from double surgery, winning races and being rewarded with a new deal until 2028.
Amid his latest resurrection, teammate
Francesco Bagnaia spent 2025 in the wilderness, ending up fifth in the riders’ championship.
The new season continued in a similar fashion, and after Marquez’s signing, it was quickly announced that two-time MotoGP champion ‘Pecco’ would be leaving Ducati as their most successful-ever rider.
A heavily-rumoured deal for KTM sensation
Pedro Acosta was then quickly confirmed, giving Ducati an all-Spanish line-up, and their first without an Italian in 17 years.

It was all going swimmingly for Aprilia until several controversial incidents derailed what looked like an uncomplicated title win and rider choice for 2027.
Marco Bezzecchi’s early-season form of three straight opening wins saw him rewarded with a new deal, the first of the season, although its length remains a mystery.
His title challenge has since taken a hit following his attack on a marshal in Czechia and resulting ban, and teammate
Jorge Martin has taken the championship lead.
Yet that isn’t enough to keep the Spaniard in black next season, as the Italian squad have opted for an all-Italian line-up.
Bagnaia joins from Ducati, and with two MotoGP titles in his pocket,
Aprilia had to dish out a lengthy four-year deal to convince him.

After yet another horror season,
Yamaha have twisted rather than stuck with their rider line-up.
2021 champion
Fabio Quartararo has departed the team, as has Alex Rins, but Yamaha have acted quickly to replace them.
Frenchman Quartararo has been replaced by 2024 champion and 2026 title leader Jorge Martin in a mega coup, with the deal running until the end of 2028.
They’ve also kept their Japanese fans very happy with the signing of Ai Ogura on the same terms. The first Japanese race winner since 2004 signs from Trackhouse after a maiden win at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Mir was beaming in the team's release photos, which is no surprise as he will get a 2027 spec Ducati, the same as factory riders Marquez and Acosta.
Holgado joins with a big reputation and was the first rookie to be announced for the new season, yet his Moto2 title challenge has faltered in recent months.
