Jorge Martin’s injury woes appear set to continue at the start of 2026 as the Aprilia rider suffers further bad luck before the season has even started.
Following a series of surgeries related to injuries he sustained throughout a disastrous 2025 campaign, Martin could be forced to play catch-up yet again this year as he seems likely to miss pre-season testing in Sepang next week.
According to Motorsport.com, Martin underwent further sugeries in recent weeks to repair both his left scaphoid bone and his right collarbone, and will be unlikely to recover in time for the Sepang shakedown test on 29-31 January.
After an astonishing 2024 season which saw Martin become the first independent team rider since Valentino Rossi to win the rider's championship, the Spaniard made the switch to Aprilia for 2025 in what was meant to be the beginning of a new era.
Things got off to a terrible start in pre-season testing when Martin suffered a dramatic highside after just a couple of laps and broke both his right hand and left foot. However, that was just the start of what would soon become the most agonizing season in Martin's career.

Retuning in April at the Qatar Grand Prix, Martin was dealt another heavy blow in the form of a collapsed lung and eleven broken ribs when he fell directly in front of VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio at high speed.
Martin would then return to the track just three months later for the Czech Grand Prix in Brno, and managed to string together a series of points finishes across the next few races, including an impressive fourth-place in Hungary.
The return to form would be short-lived, however, as Martin then crashed heavily at turn one of the sprint race in Japan, taking out his factory Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzechi.
The crash left him with a broken collarbone and effectively ended his season. However, showing further incredible resilience, Martin returned to participate in Valencia at the final round of the season, though would withdraw from the race midway through due to extreme discomfort.
