Let’s take a look at the races from the 2025 season that were won by the largest margins.
The season that has just ended delivered a string of memorable races and a drivers’ championship that went down to the very last round — something that had not happened since 2021, when
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went head-to-head, with the Dutchman ultimately coming out on top.
To find a finale featuring at least three title contenders, you have to go back to 2010, when Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton all fought for the crown at Abu Dhabi, with the German eventually emerging as world champion.
The 2025 campaign was marked by McLaren’s clear superiority in the first half of the season, underlined by their early clinching of the constructors’ championship.

At the same time, it also showcased a remarkable Verstappen comeback, which looked almost unthinkable when considering the standings up to Zandvoort and the form of the RB21, as he clawed his way back to finish within touching distance of a fifth consecutive title.
While the season as a whole was relatively balanced among the three main contenders, several races were won in emphatic fashion.
A prime example was
Lando Norris’ commanding performance in Mexico, where he cruised to victory with a staggering 30-second margin over second place.
Verstappen hit back in Las Vegas, defeating
George Russell by more than 23 seconds after Norris was disqualified from second place — his most dominant win of the year — which was then followed by another commanding victory at Imola, where he finished nearly 19 seconds clear of the field.
Oscar Piastri’s most dominant victory, meanwhile, came early in the season in Bahrain, where he finished more than 15 seconds clear of Russell.
