It's now official: Max Verstappen will remain with Red Bull Racing until 2030. Four-time world champion Verstappen has reaffirmed his commitment to the Austrian team. As was the case last season, the Dutchman was once again linked with several of Red Bull Racing's rivals before committing to the team for the upcoming
Formula 1 campaign.
Previously, Verstappen was linked with both Toto Wolff's Mercedes team and Zak Brown's McLaren. However, there was no place for him at either team, with Mercedes team boss and McLaren CEO confirming they will continue with their current driver line-ups in the 2027 season.
Verstappen could have actived his clause to leave
This is not the first time the Dutchman has taken his time to make a decision. He also waited until the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2025 before making the announcement.
However, this was the first time Verstappen could have activated a clause that would have allowed him to leave the Austrian team. After the British Grand Prix, it became mathematically impossible for the Dutchman to finish inside the top two of the drivers' standings by the summer break. Contractually, he was not required to inform Red Bull of his decision until October. In the end, however, he opted to remain with the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
