Racing Bulls has confirmed that Liam Lawson will replace Isack Hadjar at Red Bull Racing for the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix. Yuki Tsunoda will drive alongside Arvid Lindblad at Racing Bulls. Earlier today, GPblog reported that Hadjar suffered a wrist injury during the summer break. It has now been confirmed that the Frenchman will be unable to compete at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Red Bull has decided to promote Lawson as
Max Verstappen's temporary teammate. The New Zealander has been in this position before, having replaced Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri ahead of the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix. The Australian also suffered an injury that weekend.
Red Bull's reserve driver, Tsunoda, will fill Lawson's seat at Racing Bulls this weekend and be Lindblad's teammate.
For now, this change will only apply to the upcoming race at Zandvoort. The next race will be in Monza two weeks later.
Sprint weekend at Zandvoort
Lawson and Tsunoda will have little time to get up to speed in their new roles. Because the Dutch Grand Prix is a Sprint weekend, they will have just one free practice session to familiarise themselves with their new cars.
Verstappen called up by the FIA at the Dutch Grand Prix
Home favourite Verstappen will answer questions at the FIA drivers' press conference on Thursday. The Dutchman will be part of the first group of three drivers, alongside his former teammate Sergio Perez and Racing Bulls talent Lindblad. Their session will begin at 14:30 local time (13:30 GMT).
