Max Verstappen is fired up and ready to contest his home Grand Prix at Zandvoort for the final time, with the Dutchman set to kick off the second half of the season in front of his home crowd. Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Verstappen is approaching the return from the summer break with renewed energy, but with the knowledge that this year's visit to Zandvoort carries extra significance as the event prepares to leave the
Formula 1 calendar.
The circuit has played host to some of the most memorable moments of Verstappen's recent career, particularly because of the atmosphere created by the Dutch supporters. Having had the opportunity to compete on home soil for several seasons, he is determined to make the most of one final weekend in front of them.
"We have relaxed and recharged after summer break and I'm excited to head straight into Zandvoort race week. It will be a special one for myself and the fans as this is the final Dutch Grand Prix before it leaves the calendar. I have had so many good memories here in Zandvoort and to have been able to race in front of my home crowd for the past few years has been a privilege and one of my many highlights.
Verstappen will also mark the occasion with a special helmet featuring a Delft Blue-inspired design. The choice reflects a traditional piece of Dutch culture and serves as a gesture of appreciation towards the fans who have supported him throughout the years.
"I will be racing in my special helmet this week, with the design attributed to the famous Delft Blue pottery. This is a very traditional and beautiful pattern and something a bit more unique for the final race. The helmet is a tribute to the Dutch fans for their continued support through the years so we are hoping to do them proud this weekend."
Verstappen to have temporary new teammate for home race at Zandvoort
The home hero
will have a different teammate alongside him for his final home Grand Prix at Zandvoort, with Liam Lawson stepping into the
Red Bull Racing seat for the weekend.
Isack Hadjar has been ruled out of the Dutch Grand Prix after suffering a wrist injury during the summer break, as reported earlier today by GPblog. His absence has prompted Red Bull to temporarily reshuffle its driver line-ups for the upcoming race.
Lawson will move across from Racing Bulls to partner Verstappen at Red Bull, while Yuki Tsunoda will join Arvid Lindblad at Racing Bulls for the Zandvoort weekend.
It is not the first time Lawson has been called upon in similar circumstances at the Dutch circuit. In 2023, the New Zealander was drafted in by AlphaTauri to replace Daniel Ricciardo after the Australian suffered an injury during the same Grand Prix weekend. The latest reshuffle is currently limited to Zandvoort, with no change confirmed beyond the Dutch Grand Prix.
