Lewis Hamilton has secured victory at the Barcelona GP, beating the Mercedes of George Russell and Lando Norris' McLaren.
The seven-time world champion took his first win for Ferrari on an alternative strategy pitting three times, compared to the two times of both Mercedes drivers. It was expected that Hamilton would have to fight back against Russell in the final stint. However, Hamilton pitted for the final time under a VSC following the retirement of Fernando Alonso, and came out ahead of Russell.
Kimi Antonelli passed George Russell late on for second only to retire a lap later. This promoted Lando Norris in the McLaren to third, with Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri completing the top five.
Charles Leclerc also suffered a late retirement from sixth place, promoting Isack Hadjar to sixth and the two Alpines of Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto into seventh and eighth. The two Racing Bulls of Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad were set to finish outside of the points before the retirements of Antonelli and Leclerc promoted them inside the top 10.
In total, only 14 cars finished the race with Oliver Bearman, Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso, Nico Hulkenberg, Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll also retiring from the race.
