Thirteen of the twenty Formula 1 drivers on the grid posed together in New York on the day of the premiere of the F1 movie. But where were the missing drivers? GPblog takes a closer look.
Liam Lawson, Alexander Albon, Yuki Tsunoda, Nico Hülkenberg, Pierre Gasly, Franco Colapinto, Charles Leclerc, Esteban Ocon, Isack Hadjar, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, Oliver Bearman, and Gabriel Bortoleto all appeared in the group photo. However, seven drivers were noticeably absent.

Despite being in New York, Lewis Hamilton was absent from the photo. As one of the film’s producers, the seven-time world champion likely had other commitments at the time. George Russell was also missing from the group shot. Hamilton’s former Mercedes teammate did attend the premiere later.

These drivers were not in New York

Oscar Piastri was absent. The championship leader had obligations in the United States with McLaren, flying there directly from Canada. Oscar Piastri was also absent. Andrea Kimi Antonelli was at home in Italy at the time of the premiere. In Bologna, he was scheduled for his final exams. Both Aston Martin drivers, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, decided to skip the premiere. No reason has been revealed.
