Max Verstappen has opened up about the one aspect of Formula 1 he still enjoys, even as he considers a possible retirement. The
Red Bull Racing driver has largely been dissatisfied with the current
F1 regulations, and Verstappen has not held back his criticism.
Recently describing them as “anti-racing,” the Dutch driver further touched on a possible exit,
detailing that he would decide his future in the coming weeks. However, amid his dissatisfaction, Verstappen has identified the only aspect of F1 he derives joy from currently.
Speaking via BBC Radio 5 Live, Verstappen noted how he enjoys working with the Red Bull team, describing them as a family, until he steps into the car.
"I want to be here to have fun and have a great time and enjoy myself. At the moment, that's not really the case."
"Of course, I do enjoy certain aspects. I enjoy working with my team. It's like a second family. But once I sit in the car, it's not the most enjoyable, unfortunately. I'm trying. I keep telling myself every day to try and enjoy it. It's just very hard," he added.
The start of the current regulations has proven particularly challenging for Verstappen, with the Red Bull driver yet to record a top-five finish in any of the three races held so far. Last time out in Suzuka, the Dutch driver finished eighth, behind Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.

Earlier,
Verstappen echoed the sentiments of Lando Norris on the energy deployment issues affecting the current generation of cars. The Red Bull Racing driver revealed that battery power often deploys automatically when he is within a second of the car ahead, rather than being under his control.
Norris had previously admitted he was forced to overtake Lewis Hamilton while the pair were within a second of each other, against his preference, due to the inability to manage his energy deployment.
