Formula 1 partner, KitKat, has issued an update days after confirming the theft of more than 12 tonnes of its chocolate shipment. The brand had initially announced – in a subtly cheeky manner – that a truck carrying 413,793 bars from its new KitKat range had gone missing. However, it did not disclose the exact location of the incident or details about the freight at the time.
In a fresh statement, the Swiss food giant confirmed that the theft occurred while the chocolates were in transit from central Italy to Poland. The company added that it is now working closely with local authorities to recover the stolen goods, while assuring that supply remains unaffected.
“We can confirm that 12T of KitKat products were stolen while in transit between our factory in Central Italy and their destination in Poland. We are working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners to investigate. The good news: there are no concerns for consumer safety, and supply is not affected. Thank you.”
