Marquez admits physical discomfort returned at Silverstone: 'Had no control over my arm'

The defending MotoGP world champion had a difficult weekend at the British Grand Prix. He finished only ninth in the Sprint and then seventh on Sunday.

As a result, after entering the weekend just 18 points behind Jorge Martin in the standings, he is now 40 points behind.

In the latest episode of the team's 'INSIDE Ducati Lenovo Team' series, Marquez told his mechanics that he once again experienced discomfort related to his previous injury.

He said: "The tyre was better [than on Saturday]. Physically I wasn't there. I was at risk of crashing. I had no control over my right arm. Compared to practices... I lost the front at Turns 1 and 9. I didn't like it."

Up next on the MotoGP calendar is the Aragon Grand Prix, a track that suits Marquez well. MotorLand Aragon is practically the Spaniard's backyard, as he has won there eight times in MotoGP, as well as once in Moto2.

Meanwhile, Marquez's teammate, Bagnaia, failed to score a single point, and crashed out on Sunday as well.

The Italian said: "I don't know how to explain... The crash was in a phase... Maybe there was something on the ground that someone dropped. It's impossible."

After the race, speaking to Sky Italia, Bagnaia also said that this was a concerning race for Ducati.

He explained: "I'm very disappointed; we all know we can do better. The fact that the factory team is having so many problems at a circuit like this is a major cause for concern. We need to work on improving, because in this case, I wasn't the only one who struggled."
