Lewis Hamilton and
Max Verstappen were able to squeeze everything out of their car during the Grand Prix and
Peter Windsor enjoyed that. The revived
Daniel Ricciardo and
Alexander Albon are also featured in
his latest video.
Ricciardo left Verstappen
"Lewis and Max were able to squeeze the most out of their car and that's what Formula 1 is all about. I didn't see it as boring," said the former
Williams team manager. Windsor is happy to see Ricciardo back in his old form.
"Daniel left Red Bull Racing for the probably the wrong reasons, obviously there was a lot of money from Renault. It wasn't only that, he didn't like being in the other car alongside Max Verstappen. In his perspective, Red Bull were favouring Max more, more love for Max. However, it would always have been a difficult relationship, because Verstappen is so quick. But as I said at the time, Ricciardo has some qualities to beat Max and we saw those on Sunday," Windsor said.
The end for Albon coming?
One of the big losers this weekend was
Alexander Albon again. The Thai was not involved and saw
Esteban Ocon and Ricciardo finish in front of him, making the gap to Verstappen very large again. At AlphaTauri,
Pierre Gasly makes more of an impression, with another strong Grand Prix weekend.
"I wouldn't be surprised to see Gasly considered again back at Red Bull. It was not a good day for Albon. Alex has a very delicate "touch" in his driving style, but can't shorten his corners as much as Verstappen can. He reacts to the car, he doesn't create a natural platform in the way that Max and Lewis do," Windsor concludes.
