Following Lance Stroll's crash, the session got underway, but only for a short time, as Isack Hadjar had to park his car on track. Hadjar undergoes power unit failure
With the session having undergone a red flag just moments before, Hadjar was making his way around the sinuous speedy section at the end of Sector 1 when he reported power unit issues in his VCARB02.
The team responded quickly, urging him to park the car.
Hadjar then asked almost in resignation if the incident meant a retirement from the session for him, to which the team replied affirmatively.
With Andrea Kimi Antonelli's demise from FP1, Stroll's FP2 crash and Hadjar's own power unit failure, it marked three DNFs for the first day of racing action at Circuit Zandvoort, an unforgiving track on both drivers and cars alike.
