Pierre Gasly strongly believes in the Alpine project, he explained after signing a contract extension with the team. I fully believe in the team of people we have in Enstone. We've got some good new recruits. I think in terms of organisation, work processes we have, the team is probably in the best place that I've seen.

Answering
GPblog's question in Monza, Gasly explained his
contract extension is a statement of trust in his team
"I think we got all the ingredients in the team to actually deliver a competitive car from next years on. People have got to believe in it.
"Same as when you drive, if you have the belief you're going to make it you always get those last couple of hundreds and extra performance out of it.
"I would say that's probably the only thing we miss, because we've got all the other ingredients to actually deliver a very strong race car from next season," the Frenchman said.
Gasly 'fully believes' in Alpine project
The Frenchman underlined his confidence, saying the team is now in the best position since he joined in 2022.
"On my side, I didn't have to rush. I think Flavio [Briatore] convinces me going forward and to the potential of the team," he continued about his decision.
"As I said, there are reasons we're not competitive this year. I fully backed the team at the start of the year once they decided to stop the development very early on compared to other teams, which obviously is a bit painful right now.
"I think moving forward, and for my targets in Formula 1, it's definitely the best thing to do for the coming season. I fully believe in the team of people we have in Enstone. "We've got some good new recruits. I think in terms of organisation, work processes we have, the team is probably in the best place that I've seen.
"Everything we know is not working on this year's car is a conscious decision not to change it to maximise our chances from next season on."
Gasly admitted he looked at other options, which he called “normal,” and remains confident in his choice.
"There is some thinking behind it. But honestly, I believe this is a very strong option, just got to wait and display some good performance for next season."

The Grand Prix winner tight-lipped on details
The Frenchman said he got some insights to the team's plans moving forward. However, he did not reveal them in Monza.
"I could [tell you more]. I've just had water today so I'll probably keep my mouth shut for now," the driver laughed.
Briatore sees Gasly as one of the best
The Frenchman has scored 20 points so far in 2025, with his best result being a sixth-place finish at Silverstone.
Briatore, who spoke in an interview via AFP, had high praise for Gasly as well.
“His renewal was fundamental for the team, because he is one of the best drivers on the grid and one of the pillars of the project. He is part of the family and wants to win with us,” the Italian said.
Gasly has committed to a long-term deal, as his future is now secured until 2028. Starting next year, the team will begin using Mercedes power units. The German engines have previously been proved to be successful when new regulations were introduced in Formula 1.
