New uncertainty over the Bahrain GP after escalation in the Middle East

Uncertainty around the Bahrain Grand Prix has increased once again. While Formula 1 seemed in recent weeks to be heading toward reinstating the race in October, the latest developments in the Middle East have made the situation uncertain again.
In recent days, the situation in the region has escalated significantly once more. Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, while the United States has carried out new airstrikes on multiple targets in Iran. In addition, sirens sounded overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates after Iran reportedly launched more missiles and drones toward U.S. targets in the region. As a result, the security situation has deteriorated considerably again.
It is still unclear what this means for F1. GPblog previously reported that the goal was to reschedule the Bahrain Grand Prix for the weekend of October 2 to 4, between Baku and Singapore. According to sources, both Formula 1 and Formula 2 teams were also anticipating an official announcement before the race weekend in Belgium.

Return of the Bahrain GP was close until new Middle East escalations

GPblog has also learned from a reliable source that a return of the Bahrain GP on the first weekend of October seemed very close until recently. However, due to the new escalation in the Middle East, that now appears uncertain once again.

Earlier this season, the Bahrain Grand Prix was removed from the calendar because of the war in the Middle East. At the time, Formula One Management explicitly referred to it as a postponement rather than a definitive cancellation, meaning a make-up race later in the season always remained a possibility.
If Bahrain were still to be added to the calendar, Formula 1 would face a busy period in the fall. The proposed plan called for a triple header with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix first, then Bahrain, and Singapore a week later. Whether that scenario is still feasible is, for now, extremely uncertain due to the new escalation in the region.
GPblog has requested a response from Formula 1.
