TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson recalled an amusing Max Verstappen story as he described the four-time world champion as one of the "nicest guys" he has ever met. Clarkson, the former Top Gear host and star of Clarkson's Farm, was a guest of Alpine during the British Grand Prix weekend. It was his first appearance at an F1 race after revealing he had been
diagnosed with prostate cancer. The 66-year-old revealed the diagnosis on the latest episode of Clarkson's Farm but has since revealed that he is in remission after it was caught early.
At the British Grand Prix, he decided to head home before the chequered flag, and in a video after leaving the Silverstone paddock, he recalled an amusing Verstappen moment from last year's British GP.
Clarkson praises "lovely guy" Verstappen
Explaining his decision to leave the British Grand Prix early, Clarkson, who lives close to Silverstone, said he wanted to beat the traffic, after he was "stuck in a room" with Verstappen last year, as they decided to wait for the post-race traffic to clear.
In a video as he left the Silverstone paddock, Clarkson said: "We'll shut down now on social media, go home and watch the last 20 laps on TV there, and then we're not stuck in a traffic jam. Because last year I was stuck in a little tiny room with Max Verstappen for two hours. He's a lovely guy; he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Back to the farm now."
It is not the first time that Clarkson has been complimentary about the Red Bull driver. Back in the 2024 season, after Verstappen's fourth straight championship, he said following the Brazilian Grand Prix: "Max Verstappen is one of the all-time greats. He may even be the greatest driver we’ve ever seen."
