New Honda power unit roars for the first time in Aston Martin's car at the Hungaroring

After taking part in the Pirelli tyre test at the Hungaroring a day ago, Aston Martin is completing a filming day at the circuit near Budapest today, as GPblog previously reported.

During a Formula 1 filming day, teams are allowed to complete up to 200 kilometres and can hold two such days per season.

Honda's Trackside General Manager and Chief Engineer, Shintaro Orihara, previously explained that they are planning to use this updated PU package for the first time during a Grand Prix weekend at Zandvoort.

"That is what we are working on. And also, of course, to improve reliability, because if we increase performance, we need to increase reliability. So still, we have a quite big list to complete, but we are working hard to achieve the goal by the Netherlands," he told GPblog, among others.

The first real test for Aston Martin's first set of updates came in Hungary during qualifying, where Alonso made it through to Q2 for the first time this year.

He said: "I think it was important. Definitely it was important for everyone in the team, as you know, it has been a tough period in both factories, having the deficit that we had in terms of performance in the first half of the year.

"It's not anymore that we are chasing something that we don't know, we know exactly what we are looking for, and we know exactly the targets for the next package or the targets for next year. So that's I think for me the biggest change of this weekend," he concluded.
