Lawson gives candid response when asked about his F1 future after US GP

Liam Lawson laughed off questions regarding his Formula 1 future, admitting that he has no idea when Racing Bulls will make an announcement over whether he will remain with the team in 2027.
The New Zealander has enjoyed the best season of his F1 career to date, with a ninth place finish at the United States Grand Prix further cementing his place as 'best of the rest' behind the big four teams in the championship.
Highly-rated junior driver Nikola Tsolov is waiting in the wings and there are no guarantees that Lawson will remain with Racing Bulls despite his consistent performances in 2026.
After the US GP, Lawson was asked by former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer on F1 TV if he had any idea when an announcement would be made. "I've no idea, man," Lawson replied after laughing at the question.
"Honestly at the moment, it's to a point where I'm not even really thinking about it. I'm just pressing on and enjoying the races, honestly."

Although no longer in the Red Bull setup, their former motorsport advisor Helmut Marko, has stated his belief that Tsolov should replace Lawson in 2027.
Marko said: "I agree with a saying by (Dietrich) Mateschitz: 'We don't buy stars, we make stars.' We've always looked for our own drivers who can win a Grand Prix. Apart from a few exceptions, it's worked."
He added: "In keeping with this philosophy, the difficult decision between Liam Lawson and Nikola Tsolov at Racing Bulls should actually go in Tsolov's favour."

Should Lawson lose his seat, there is not many options left on the grid in 2027. There is uncertainty over Valtteri Bottas' future at Cadillac, with Colton Herta firmly in the frame despite his difficult year in Formula 2.
Oliver Bearman is also yet to be confirmed at Haas, although it would be a surprise to see the Englishman not keep his seat in 2027.
