Sergio Perez with
Liam Lawson.
Max Verstappen's dad wants the three-time World Champion to have someone competitive to work alongside at Red Bull.
What are Jos Verstappen's thoughts on Lawson?
Sergio Perez is contracted to race for Red Bull during the 2025
Formula 1 season, but there is strong doubt about his future. His performances have lagged behind Verstappen's in 2024.
Christian Horner has stressed Red Bull needs two competitive drivers next season.
Yuki Tsunoda is in the picture, and non-Red Bull Junior
Franco Colapinto has also impressed.
Red Bull Junior
Liam Lawson has also put himself into the picture. He replaced
Daniel Ricciardo after the
Singapore Grand Prix to finish the season at
Visa Cash App RB.
Jos Verstappen has his view on the situation.
"I think Lawson is doing very well," Verstappen told
Viaplay.
"It seems logical to me that he is ready to step-up. Let him finish this season and build confidence and then the team has to decide what they do for next year," the Dutchman added.
Asked whether Lawson would be a suitable teammate for Verstappen, the former
Formula 1 driver responded clearly:
"I certainly don't oppose that. It's better if there is someone who is competitive and pushes Max forward a bit. That always helps, but we'll see."This article has been created in collaboration with Jeroen Immink
