Home favourite Herta misses out on top 10 finish in Miami GP Qualifying

After the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, the Formula 2 calendar was reorganised. To avoid a three-month break, the championship heads to Miami and Canada. Drivers had just 45 minutes of running before the first competitive session.

After the first set of runs in qualifying, Ferrari junior Camara led the timesheets with a 1:40.441, ahead of Alex Dunne and Stenshorne. Home favourite Herta was in tenth place.

After Stenshorne suffered a mechanical issue in the final minute and was forced to stop on track, no driver was able to improve. As a result, Maini claimed pole position thanks to his superb lap on his second attempt, finishing ahead of Camara and Stenshorne.

Herta had a difficult session. During his second run, he made mistakes on multiple laps, first at the final hairpin and then in Sector 1. He will start from P14.
