Japanese Grand Prix, scheduled for the weekend of 27–29 March as the third round of the 2026 championship, will bring a number of changes compared to this season — most notably a partial resurfacing of the Suzuka Circuit.
"Due to the road resurfacing construction on the Suzuka Circuit West Course, we will be selling the 'asphalt' from the racing course that has hosted various major races such as F1 and the Suzuka 8 Hours," the circuit posted via his X profile.
The circuit also clarified that “The image shows one scene from the extraction process.” Further details, including pricing, will be announced “at a later date.”
Axed Alpine driver Doohan suffers unreal triple crash in Suzuka
After being released by Alpine just six races into the 2025 season, the Aussie returned to action during a three-day test at Suzuka with Kondo Racing this month, but the outing quickly unravelled.
He crashed on both the first and second days — remarkably at the very same spot, the infamous Degner corner. Day one saw him slam backwards into the barriers, while day two ended with a heavy head-on impact at the same corner. He walked away unharmed, but the car suffered extensive damage.
The troubles didn’t stop there. On the third and final day, he astonishingly crashed yet again — once more at Degner. The sequence is all the more striking given that the Australian had already brushed the barriers during FP1 of the F1 Japanese Grand Prix back in April.
