Lando Norris claimed that Max Verstappen is one of the "best drivers ever" in Formula 1, while Ferrari was awarded a €10,000 fine for the Leclerc-Norris incident during practice. Recap the best news of the day with GPblog! Lando Norris claimed that it is
"almost impossible" to be "as good" as four-time world champion Max Verstappen, as he is one of the "best drivers ever in Formula 1."
Second in the Drivers' Standings, Lando Norris is currently 25 points behind his teammate Oscar Piastri, and 44 points ahead of Verstappen.
Norris told ESPN: "I don't want to say or believe that I will ever be as good as Max because I think that is the wrong thing to tell myself.
"And it is hard to beat someone who was born into an F1 seat, if I could go back and choose how to be a better driver, I would also have a mum and dad who were racing drivers, start when you are a baby in the paddock, start karting at whatever age he did and do more testing than everyone else." Ferrari has received a €10,000 fine from the stewards following
Charles Leclerc's incident with Lando Norris in FP2.
Leclerc and Norris collided in FP2 with around 12 minutes remaining, which prompted Leclerc to be investigated for an unsafe release.
Leclerc told F1 TV: "My camera was on my face so I couldn’t see to double check with my mechanic, and speaking with him, it was a bit of confusion with the two McLarens going out. “It looked like they were going out at the same time, so he thought they would go out slower, so I didn’t have a message to stop."
Norris' teammate,
Oscar Piastri topped FP2 in Singapore. The session was eventful, with two red flags caused by George Russell and Liam Lawson.
Max Verstappen took third behind Isack Hadjar, with
FP1’s fastest driver, Fernando Alonso, in fourth.
