F1 Full Results | Lando Norris wins the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix

Norris lined up in Pole Position ahead of the 70-lap race, and after a hectic race in Budapest, he has converted that into important points in the F1 standings.

The Grand Prix got off to a dramatic start, with pole-sitter Norris losing his lead to Piastri at Turn 2, while Leclerc got swallowed up by the frontrunners around him as Verstappen and Hamilton became locked in a fierce battle for the final podium place. It was a nightmare start, however, for George Russell, who started in P6 but was in P21 after suffering anti-stall.

Verstappen and Hamilton's battle rumbled on in the opening stages. The Briton had gained net-P3 ahead of Verstappen after their first round of pit stops on Lap 15, but the following lap saw an overtake of the year contender from the Dutchman - a late-braking move down the inside of Turn 1.

While the top four had got bunched up behind Isack Hadjar, yet to pit on Lap 19, the McLarens did not take long to pull away for the second time once the Frenchman was out of the way, with Norris trailing Piastri within a second, but always increasing his gap to Verstappen and Hamilton behind.

By the halfway point, however, Hamilton had stopped for the second time and was beginning to make McLaren sweat. Norris had been putting pressure on Piastri all race, with the Aussie pitting earlier to defend against the Ferrari driver - effectively a race-deciding decision as it would turn out.

With Norris staying out, and lapping well, contact between Piastri and back-marker Carlos Sainz allowed the world champion to pit and regain the net lead ahead of his teammate. A late lunge at Turn 1 eventually saw him pass Kimi Antonelli - struggling as Mercedes tried a one-stop strategy - for the lead of the race. There was simply no stopping the Briton from then on.

It did, however, go from bad to worse for Piastri, with the Aussie suffering gearbox issues and a DNF with just 13 laps to go. Piastri had been fighting to keep P2 from Hamilton, Verstappen and a pursuing Antonelli after his second stop, but it was the Dutchman who secured second spot, with Antonelli in P3.
