F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has dismissed as ‘crazy’ claims that Formula 1 deliberately censored onboard footage to hide issues with the 2026 regulations.
In Japan, fans were left unimpressed after Formula 1 cut away from the onboard footage of Antonelli’s pole lap from 130R onwards, with many interpreting it as an attempt to mask the superclipping issue that had already been clearly exposed in the previous race.
Speaking to The Race, Domenicali dismissed suggestions that Formula 1 is trying to hide anything, stressing that the sport is proud to showcase its current package. He also played down the negative narrative, insisting he does not share that perception, while underlining that he remains open to feedback and continues to listen to all viewpoints.
“It's crazy to think that we protect something. This is our package. This is what we want to show to the people. And I want to get out of this negativity because I don't feel the negativity. Honestly, I don't feel the negativity. I love it. But saying that, we are listening to everyone. I'm listening to everyone. I'm not shutting my door not to listen to the comment. I'm always listening. but there is the right thing to listen and to act if there is something to improve or if there is something that you feel that there is really a big problem that you have to tackle."

Domenicali also stressed the importance of listening to constructive feedback, pointing out that while everyone can offer valuable input, it is ultimately up to those in charge to filter opinions and take decisions with the bigger picture in mind.
“Listening is very crucial. Listening to the people who really are not having this kind of conspiracy theory behind is always very important because everyone can teach something to us, but of course someone has to make a synthesis because someone has to have the bigger picture to manage.”

BYD confirms interest in joining Formula 1 after talks with Domenicali

Chinese EV giant BYD has reaffirmed its ambition to join Formula 1 as a twelfth team following early discussions with CEO Stefano Domenicali. Speaking to Sportmediaset at the Beijing Auto Show, vice president Stella Li made it clear the company is serious about turning speculation into a concrete project.

However, that happening would be highly remarkable for several reasons. The Chinese market is focused on electric vehicles, while in F1 a shift away from them appears to be underway. Moreover, with a 12th team, the revenue share for the other eleven teams would shrink again, so it is clear not everyone is eager to make it happen.
