Mattia Binotto has his doubts about the current races in Formula 1 after the Brazilian Grand Prix. According to the Ferrari team boss it would be better for the sport to experiment with a reverse grid.

With Hamilton starting from last place, the race at the Interlagos circuit last weekend provided a lot of spectacle. The Briton eventually won the race, which got Binotto thinking. According to the Italian, the current Formula 1 races are too long and a different format is needed.

Ferrari wants a reverse grid

"I still think the races are too long. Why not have two races where the first six start at the second race in reverse order? During the break we can have interviews with the drivers, they can interact live with their fans on Facebook or Instagram. That would give a popularity boost. The world is changing and if F1 wants to survive, it has to deal with scenarios that are not yesterday's news'', Binotto said according to Speedweek.

Although the sprint race format does make for interesting races and occasionally remarkable results, Binotto thinks F1 needs to look further. ''We've seen so many overtaking manoeuvres that I think it's a viable concept. We really need to consider it,'' the Italian concludes.
