Concerns at Ferrari: 'We need to understand what happened in France'

The Formula 1 teams have only just finished the French Grand Prix, but already have to prepare for the next race. Where Red Bull Racing would have preferred to party a few days longer, the busy schedule is pleasant for Ferrari.

The Italian formation was still in third place in the world championship before the race in France, but Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz failed to secure points on Sunday afternoon. It meant McLaren took a lead over its closest rival and Ferrari were pretty bummed about themselves after the weekend.

Team boss Mattia Binotto has analysed the situation in detail with the team. "The race was very tough and difficult for us," he told Motorsport.com. "We were not able to make the tyres work as we should have done. And I think our performance was closely related to the tyres and the way we made them work."

Next weekend Ferrari expect to do better. "On paper, the circuit should be more favourable for the characteristics of our car, but we need to understand what happened in France and what the weather conditions will be. We are counting on the two races in Austria. If we then look at the calendar before the summer break, England could be difficult, while Hungary should be positive for us again."
