Jorge Martin had a shocker following his sprint victory in COTA today after he crashed while doing a celebratory wheelie at almost 100mph. After an astonishing last-lap overtake against his long-time nemesis Pecco Bagnaia, Martin then went on to suffer a high speed crash during the cooldown lap while heading down the back straight.
It was an embarrasing moment for Martin, who caps off an incredible comeback by securing
victory in the USA sprint race.
Martin, who spent most of the 2025 season in the hospital after a series of brutal crashes throughout the year which left him with two broken feet, two broken wrists and a punctured lung, has been one of the stand-out riders of the season so far and has looked every bit his best in the opening rounds of 2026.
The 2024 world champion is certainly making the most of his time at
Aprilia this year, as it is uncertain whether he will remain with the team next season
or transfer to Yamaha.
Following the sprint victory and an unfortunate crash for his Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin is now the leader of the MotoGP world championship once again.
Fortunately, Martin was uninjured by the incident.
