Yamaha’s partnership with Monster Energy could be coming to an end as rumours circulate that the Japanese outfit may terminate the partnership which has lasted over a decade.
Since 2013, the Monster Energy brand has long been synonymous with Yamaha’s MotoGP team, with
legends like Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and their most recent world champion,
Fabio Quartararo, all donning the famous green ‘claw mark’ logo.
However, it seems that the social media pages of the Yamaha team have undergone a transformation - the first since 2019, and the Monster Energy sponsorship has been removed.
It is no secret that Yamaha’s on-track performances have been disappointing in recent years, with a severe engine deficit to their rival manufacturers and desperate effort to accelerate the development of their V4.
To make matters worse, Quartararo appears to have signed a deal with Honda for next season, leaving them without one of their star talents and biggest names for the foreseeable future.
While this could be a simple case of 'modernizing' the team's social pages, it does appear strange that the main title sponsor of the team is being reduced in its visibility - particularly amid the
drastic changes taking place in both the team and rider transfer market.
Either way, a reset is certainly something that Yamaha needs as a sweeping set of regulation changes are set to take effect at the start of next season.
