Fabio Quartararo, known by his nickname ‘El Diablo’ is one of the most exciting and talented riders on the MotoGP grid. He began his career in Moto3 in 2015 with the Honda-powered Estrella Galicia 0,0 team where he secured two podiums in his rookie season and finished 10th overall in the final standings before moving to KTM’s Leopard Racing the following year.
Despite mixed results, he was promoted to the Kalex Pons HP40 team in Moto2 for the 2017 season and took his maiden win the following year for Speed Up Racing.
His undeniable skills earned him a spot on the MotoGP grid for the Petronas Yamaha SRT team in 2019 where he managed an impressive seven podiums throughout the year and finished fifth in the overall season standings.
Quartararo started the tumultuous 2020 season strongly with back-to-back victories in Jerez, his first in the premier class, before following up with a third win in Catalonia the same year.
The 2021 season was when Quartararo etched his name into the history books, winning the MotoGP World Championship at just 22 years of age, making him one of the youngest riders ever to win the class.
2022 was another highly competitive year for Quartararo, who fought with Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia throughout the year but ultimately lost out to the Italian.
Since then, Quartararo has struggled aboard inferior Yamaha machinery but still managed to drag out some impressive results. He is especially good in qualifying and has a total of 21 Pole Positions in his career so far.

Quartararo’s 2021 Championship Victory

The 2021 season was somewhat more normal than the chaotic 2020 season which had preceded it and saw a strong battle between Quartararo and Bagnaia for the championship title.
Quartararo strung together a series of victories in Qatar, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands and Great Britain before holding off Bagnaia’s late resurgence to claim the crown in San Marino. In doing so, he became the first rider to win the title for Yamaha since Jorge Lorenzo in 2015.
