The Italian Grand Prix weekend in Mugello is underway as the highly anticipated battle between home rivals Ducati and Aprilia looks set to heat up.
VR46's Fabio Di Giannantonio appears to be riding the momentum from his Catalan Grand Prix victory in Barcelona two weeks ago, the Italian topped the session by three-tenths of a second from Aprilia's Jorge Martin.
Ducati might be a little concerned with the pace of their riders in the FP1 session. Marc Marquez returned to the track after missing the Catalan Grand Prix. After a few cautionary laps, he was quickly back up to a fairly competitive pace. Francesco Bagnaia was also looking good until running off the track and stalling his engine, which brough his session to an early end.
Marco Bezzecchi was nowhere to be seen by the end of the session despite a strong start. The championship leader will need to find some pace if he wants to comfortably make it to Q1 this afternoon.
KTM will pleased with Maverick Vinales in particular, the Spaniard was the highest of the KTMs in P4 with Acosta in P6, Binder P12 and Bastianini in P17.

Honda had a solid session with both factory riders, Luca Marini and Joan Mir, comfortably inside the top ten. Diogo Moreira also looked comofrtable at the Italian circuit while British legend Cal Crutchlow was not ridiculously far off the pace considering he was called up this week as a late stand-in for the injured Johann Zarco.
Yamaha might feel somewhat encouraged by Jack Miller's P4 finish in the session, however both factory riders Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo were downat the lower end of the field.
