2021 MotoGP World Champion Fabio Quartararo has made clear the he believes he can salvage little more than a few decent points results from the remainder of the season. The difficulties arise as a result of Yamaha’s stagnated development, which ‘El Diablo’ has been very vocal about so far this year. So far, Quartararo has only managed to score points in six of the first eleven races, representing one of his worst points-hauls at the half-way point in any of his previous MotoGP seasons.
The relationship with Yamaha has been on the downward spiral for quite some time, and it is
all-but confirmed that Quartararo will leave the Japanese manufacturer for their arch-rivals
HRC Honda for 2027.
“I want to be ready for next year,” said Quartararo following his P7 finish at the Sachsenring ”because it's not [just] because I change [teams next year] that everything is going to be perfect.”
He then emphasised how he still plans to get the maximum out of the remaining races, even if purely from a personal development point of view:
“For sure, I will have some difficulties in my next chapter, so I want to push myself to the limit and learn, to find everything I can as a rider.“
