Honda signs MotoGP world champion Fabio Quartararo on a two-year deal

Former MotoGP world champion Quartararo is joining Honda from Yamaha. The move had already been rumored before the current MotoGP season began. Quartararo has signed a two-year deal.

The Frenchman won his only MotoGP title in 2021, but in recent seasons, he has struggled with Yamaha. As a result, he has opted to switch to rival Japanese manufacturer Honda for next season, when a major overhaul of the technical regulations will come into effect.

Yamaha has already announced its riders for next season. 2024 MotoGP champion Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura will form a strong partnership as the team hopes to find its way back to the front of the competition.

Together with the Frenchman, Colombian talent David Alonso was also announced to make the step up to MotoGP for the upcoming campaign.

Whether he will ride for the Honda factory team or LCR remains to be announced. Johann Zarco is already under contract with LCR for next season, while Honda also has to decide which team Diogo Moreira will compete for in 2027.
