Yamaha reacts to Quartararo complaint: 'He should follow Miller's example'

During the Aragon Grand Prix, the former MotoGP world champion, who will join Honda next year, said that he has little desire to develop the Yamaha bike for the 2027 riders.

"I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway: I wanted to take part in the tests in Austria. But unfortunately, Yamaha doesn’t want me to ride with the Pirelli tyres," the Frenchman was quoted by Motorsport.com.

Meregalli commented that it is normal for teams to have riders test at the Red Bull Ring who will also be with the manufacturers next year.

"We’ll be using Razgatlioglu and most certainly Guevara for the test in Austria because they’ll be with us next year," he told L'Equipe.

According to the Italian, Quartararo should adopt the same attitude as Miller. The Australian was also confirmed to leave Pramac Racing and Yamaha at the end of the year.

Quartararo and Yamaha have endured a difficult 2026 campaign so far. The Frenchman sits only 15th in the riders' standings with 55 points to his name. His best result came at the Catalan Grand Prix, where he finished fifth.

Next year, both will start new chapters in MotoGP. Quartararo will join the Honda factory team, while Yamaha will continue with Ai Ogura and Jorge Martin. Moreover, Toprak Razgatlioglu and Izan Guevara will race Yamaha bikes for Pramac Racing.
