MotoGP championship leader Marco Bezzecchi has been given a 2-place grid penalty along with Luca Marini after holding up Marc Marquez during qualifying earlier today. Traffic was a major issues
throughout the Q2 session in COTA, with Marc Marquez arguably losing out the most and finishing in 6th place.
Bezzecchi, who qualified in P2, will now be demoted to P4, which moves Acosta and Bagnaia up a position.
Further down the field, Honda's
Luca Marini also recieved a 2-place drop for the same incident in which he appeared to slow on the racing line during a cooldown lap, while Marquez behind was on a flyer.
Marini has therefore been demoted to P11 which moves Aldeguer and Ogura up a position each.
Both penalities will be applied for Sunday's race but not for this evening's sprint.
Ogura and Bastianini were also involved with some close shaves, but no updates have been provided yet as to whether they will be penalized too.
