The highly dramatic and
controversial sprint race was eventually won by
Jorge Martin after a sensational last-lap overtake on his former title rival Francesco Bagnaia.
Acosta, who qualified and crossed the line in third place despite
all the chaos happening around him, appeared to have secured a solid podium until it was brought into question that he may be in breach of tyre pressure regulations at the conclusion of the race.
Now it has emerged that Acosta's KTM was indeed in breach of the regulation, leading him to be dropped six places down to P9 and handing the podium place to Tech3's Enea Bastianini.
Acosta wasn't the only rider to be penalized for what went down during the sprint. Marc Marquez was handed a penalty decision following his
aggressive move on VR46's Di Giannantonio - a move which ended up taking the pair of them out of the race altogether.
Early championship leader Marco Bezzecchi will also face a grid penalty after impeding Marquez in qualifying. The incident which also involved Luca Marini and Ai Ogura was deemed to be
dangerous enough to hand Bez a two-place grid penalty.
