F1 summer break recap: How are the drivers spending their holidays?

Max Verstappen has been making the most of the Formula 1 summer break in Sardinia, where he once again crossed paths with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. It marks the second consecutive year that the two have been pictured together while on holiday, with Kelly Piquet and Susie Wolff also joining them on the Italian island.

The images show Verstappen enjoying several activities during his time away from racing. The Dutchman was seen in the water alongside Piquet while Wolff sat nearby on a jet ski, while another moment captured him riding an electric hydrofoil board. Verstappen was also photographed boarding a luxury yacht as he enjoyed his time off before the season resumes.

After Verstappen was spotted enjoying his summer holidays in Sardinia, Kimi Antonelli followed suit by heading to the Italian island during the Formula 1 break. The Mercedes youngster was pictured spending time there with team principal Toto Wolff and his wife Susie, while Antonelli's father Marco also joined them.

Like Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli before him, Charles Leclerc also chose Sardinia as the destination for his summer break. The Monegasque spent his time off in Italy with his wife Alexandra, family and friends, sharing a series of pictures from the holiday on social media. Their fan-favourite dachshund Leo also joined the couple during their Sardinian getaway.

His Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton has also been enjoying some time away from Formula 1 during the summer break. The seven-time world champion recently offered a glimpse into his holidays through a new post on social media, sharing a series of pictures from his time off.

Among them were Hamilton's first photos with Halo, his new golden retriever puppy, who was flown to Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago. Halo will have the same trainer as Roscoe and Coco, Kirstin McMillan. Hamilton also included new pictures alongside his partner Kim Kardashian as he continues to enjoy the break before the Formula 1 season resumes.

George Russell, meanwhile, used the summer break to celebrate a major milestone away from the Formula 1 paddock, announcing his engagement to longtime partner Carmen Mundt. The Mercedes driver revealed the news on social media with a collection of photos of the couple, including one showing Mundt wearing her engagement ring.

The announcement was quickly met with congratulations from across the F1 paddock, with Mercedes and several of Russell's fellow drivers reacting to the news. The 28-year-old Briton and Mundt have been together since 2020, after first meeting through a mutual friend in London. Since then, she has become a regular presence at Grands Prix, supporting Russell throughout his time with Mercedes.

Franco Colapinto, however, is unlikely to have enjoyed quite as relaxing a summer break. The Argentine was the victim of a burglary while holidaying on Lake Como in Italy, with the apartment where he was staying being broken into and several of his belongings stolen.

Colapinto revealed the incident on social media but chose to make light of what happened. He joked about the irony of a Latino having everything stolen from him by Europeans and suggested that the thieves were unlikely to appreciate his mate. In a later update, the Alpine driver explained that his suitcases, clothes and mate kit all disappeared while he was at the lake, sarcastically wishing whoever took them well with their new belongings.
