Despite a strong start to the weekend for Ferrari,
Lewis Hamilton made it clear that the work is far from over, with bigger challenges expected tomorrow.
Hamilton showcased his pace and consistency in FP2, running closely with teammate Charles Leclerc throughout the session. Leclerc initially set the benchmark with a 1:41.7 on soft tyres, but Hamilton stayed within striking distance on mediums, eventually topping the session by less than a tenth.
The Briton also navigated a tricky moment early on when Lance Stroll attempted an overtake and nearly crossed the white line on the pit lane exit. Hamilton briefly ventured into the escape roads on his first lap, but quickly regained confidence on the soft tyres, finishing the day in first place and sending a clear message that he is ready to challenge for the top spots.

During Friday’s FP2 session in Baku,
Lando Norris suffered a dramatic moment at Turn 4, colliding with the wall and breaking the suspension on his McLaren. Remarkably, the British driver managed to steer his damaged car back to the pits, avoiding a red flag and keeping the session flowing.
At the time of the crash, Norris had been running strongly in third, trailing only the two Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.
The session threw another challenge shortly after, as teammate
Oscar Piastri also clipped the wall at Turn 15. Unlike Norris, Piastri was able to continue without major damage, though McLaren clearly faces work to refine their cars ahead of qualifying.
