Who will come out on top in Baku?
With the Monza weekend behind us, where Max Verstappen returned to victory in dominant fashion ahead of the two McLarens, all eyes now turn to the Baku street circuit.
Known for its mix of tight corners and the longest straight on the calendar, the track is all about finding the right aerodynamic compromise.
One driver to watch closely is Charles Leclerc, who has claimed the last four consecutive poles at this venue and, besides Sergio Perez, has always shown a special connection with the circuit.
However, the Monegasque has never been able to convert pole positions into victories: in 2022 he had to retire from the lead due to a power unit issue, in 2023 he finished third behind the two Red Bulls, and last year he came second after a close battle with Oscar Piastri.
There is also keen interest in whether Verstappen can confirm the strong performance shown by the RB21 in Italy, and if he can trouble the two title contenders, with Piastri having reluctantly accepted the team’s swap of positions and the drivers’ standings now showing him leading by 31 points over his teammate.
McLaren could already secure the Constructors’ Championship with seven races to go:
here are the possible scenarios.
