Russell followed in third position, but the Briton was around half a second slower than the Ferrari duo.

As it happened
After encountering power unit issues in FP1, Oscar Piastri immediately entered the track on Friday afternoon. Within minutes, all drivers had begun completing laps as well.
Leaving the pit lane, Lance Stroll intended to overtake Hamilton, but nearly crossed the white line on the exit on his attempt. Several drivers also found the escape roads on their opening laps, with Hamilton, Liam Lawson and Oliver Bearman bringing out early yellow flags.
Fifteen minutes into the session, the two Ferrari pair led the session. Leclerc set a 1:41.7 on the softs, and Hamilton was around a tenth and a half slower on the mediums. The Monegasque driver also made slight contact with the wall on his lap exiting Turn 3.
A couple of minutes later, after improving in Sector 3, Hamilton moved up to P1, setting 1:41.5.
At the halfway point, the two Ferrari drivers remained in the lead, with Norris sitting in third place ahead of Carlos Sainz and Isack Hadjar.
The British driver was unable to finish the session, as
he hit the wall in Turn 4, breaking his suspension in the process. Norris nevertheless managed to bring his damaged car back to the pit lane without causing a red flag.
Minutes later, at Turn 15, Oscar Piastri also brushed the wall, though the Australian was able to continue.
Entering the last 15 minutes of the session, Leclerc moved into the lead with a 1:41.3, but Hamilton immediately reclaimed P1 from his teammate setting a lap less than a tenth faster.
During the final minutes, Leclerc also found the escape road, causing a yellow flag, but made no contact with the wall.
