Leclerc calls on Ferrari to maintain clear direction with 'aggressive' updates

Throughout the 2026 Formula 1 season, Ferrari has continuously introduced updates to the SF-26. The Scuderia has won two races, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and Silverstone, while Lewis Hamilton currently sits second in the drivers' standings, 50 points behind Kimi Antonelli and nine ahead of George Russell.

After the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he finished fourth following Hamilton's time penalty, Leclerc said he wants Ferrari to maintain an aggressive approach during the second half of the season as well.

Speaking to GPblog, among others, he explained at the Hungaroring: "That’s the [current] championship again. Upgrades are so much more significant than in the past because it makes us do such a big step forward.

Leclerc was also left puzzled by Ferrari's performance swings across the last three Grands Prix, with the Scuderia struggling at the Hungarian GP - at a track many expected them to be strong - but impressing at energy-starved Silverstone and Spa.

He said: "We weren't particularly stellar at any point of the race. I mean, the first stint on hards wasn't bad, the last stint on softs was pretty good, but then there were too many ups and downs.
