Max Verstappen once again experienced issues with engine braking at the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Dutchman did not know what was causing these problems.
Verstappen won the Mexico City Grand Prix, which featured a red flag and multiple crashes. In the end, the Dutchman crossed the finish line ahead of Lewis Hamilton and world champion Kimi Antonelli.
Throughout the race, Verstappen reported problems with engine braking, as he had done in previous weekends. The four-time Formula 1 world champion was asked about the issue after the race.
He began: "It happens randomly. Yeah, I don't know. The engine just decides by itself what to do, to be honest. So, I don't know. Maybe I need to have a conversation with the engine before going into the race. Maybe it has to behave better.

"Yeah, we don't know. Sometimes it just happens. It's not very consistent. I think, honestly, everything is running so hot here, and also for the turbocharger and everything, it's tough to make everything spot on," the Red Bull Racing driver concluded.
With this result, Verstappen is now second in the drivers' standings. He is two points ahead of Hamilton and 11 points ahead of George Russell.
