Valtteri Bottas says he now feels more comfortable in the Cadillac and believes he has reached the level he should be at.
After spending a year as Mercedes' third driver, Bottas joined Cadillac for the 2026 Formula 1 season. Despite some initial struggles, the Finn is now much happier with his performances.
Answering GPblog's questions at the Hungaroring, he said: "I think it was a little bit tricky, the start.
"In the beginning of the year, we had quite a few issues with the car, consistency of the parts. Sometimes I felt a little bit lost on finding why I’m lacking pace, but then we eventually always found answers, so that's good.
"Now, the last couple of events, I've gained a lot more confidence with the car. So, yeah, I mean, we are improving as a team. And, you know, of course, as a driver, you always try to improve. But, yeah, finally, I feel like I'm on the level that I should be driving."

Bottas sees there is still a lot to learn

He added: "It's different. I learned a lot. Well, first of all, everyone has learned a lot with the new regulations, with the new PUs, how to make the most out of it driving wise. But yeah, of course, from this year I've learned a lot.
"There's been lots of problem solving, lots of debugging, and for sure there's still a mountain of work to do, which we always learn from."
In its debut season, Cadillac is yet to score a point, despite Sergio Perez coming close at the Monaco Grand Prix. A penalty for the Mexican there means Bottas still holds the team's best result of the season, having finished 13th in Shanghai.

Issues with both cars have been a recurring theme for the newest outfit on the F1 grid during the recent weekends. At the Hungaroring, neither cars were able to finish the race.
