After a month-long break in
Formula 1 due to the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, the competition returns this weekend with the Miami Grand Prix. During the break, the FIA and
F1 teams approved minor regulation tweaks to allow drivers to push flat-out in qualifying and improve safety.
This weekend features a Sprint format with just a single free practice session, and that
extended session was won impressively by Charles Leclerc, with Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri rounding out the top three.
Sprint Qualifying follows the 90-minute practice session, which came into effect after the FIA's regulatory tweaks. Kimi Antonelli was victorious in Japan last time out. The young Mercedes driver now leads the World Drivers' Championship by nine points over his teammate George Russell. This weekend, a maximum of 33 points will be up for grabs in Miami.
