Norris thrilled with 'perfect' McLaren reward after clinching Sprint Pole

Lando Norris has hailed his Sprint Pole at the Miami Grand Prix has the "perfect result" for McLaren, and a "nice way" to reward his team after bringing seven upgrades to the US.
McLaren and Ferrari have both looked like they've made some good progress in plugging the gap to championship leaders Mercedes, with Norris pipping Kimi Antonelli to pole, while George Russell could only finish P6.
Speaking after the race, Norris said: "A perfect result for us. A nice way to reward the team. We have a lot of new upgrades on the car. It's nice to feel some grip again and to reward the guys and the girls that have put a lot of work into this. I've always loved Miami on and off the track. It's the beginning of the weekend, so still a long way to go but nice to tick things off by doing this."
Norris was then asked on McLaren seemingly closing that gap to the Silver Arrows, again taking the opportunity to praise the upgrades delivered by the Woking team.

"The track is different. We know this track has always been good to us but knew what we were bringing was going to be a good step and it has. It's nice our estimations have proved correct and the team deserve that."Since the first lap I've felt comfortable and was like 'I've got a bit of rear grip'."
Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle was full of praise for the world champion, saying Norris has been "on it" all weekend. Brundle said: "He's been on it all day has Lando Norris. Once again, correlation for McLaren with their upgrades with the digital wind tunnel, and the stop watch, the grip, and the feel for the drivers all seems to work out when they bring an upgrade to their cars. Their car is working nicely."
