The Miami Grand Prix is finally just around the corner after a month-long break that left Formula 1 silent: who will come out on top in the fourth race of the season on Sunday? Nearly a month on from the previous Grand Prix in Japan, won by Kimi Antonelli ahead of Oscar Piastri and teammate George Russell, Formula 1 is finally set to return with the fourth round of the season in Miami, a weekend eagerly awaited also because of the expected impact of the latest rule tweaks.
Last year’s Miami Grand Prix was won by Piastri, who further strengthened his championship lead at the time after getting the better of both his teammate and Max Verstappen. The Dutchman remained in the fight throughout the race, but despite starting from pole position he ultimately had no answer for the McLarens’ pace. This year, Antonelli heads into the weekend fresh off back-to-back victories, having also taken over the championship lead at Suzuka, while Russell will be looking to bounce back after two races in which he was unable to fully convert the car’s potential into results.
Ferrari will also be one of the main talking points in Miami, with the team set to introduce a heavily revised SF-26 featuring updates across several areas, including the latest evolution of the so-called ‘macarena’ wing. Red Bull will also bring a major upgrade package to the RB22, with the new components already having been tested by Verstappen during last week’s filming day at Silverstone.
