GPblog wishes everyone a healthy, happy and exciting 2026!
The 2025 Formula 1 season promised to be an exciting battle between four-time world champion Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, who became an unexpected title contender in 2024. However, it turned out differently: from the get go, McLaren clearly had the upper hand and it wasn’t Norris, but his teammate Oscar Piastri who looked set to run away with the world title.

Highlights of the 2025 F1 season

After the summer break, however, the F1 season took a surprising turn. Piastri had a dip in form, while Verstappen and Red Bull pulled off an incredible comeback. Norris also started to become more consistent.
Verstappen closed in rapidly and capitalized on mistakes by his rivals while remaining faultless himself. He won six of the ten races in the second half of the season, but ultimately fell two points short of Norris, who claimed his first world title in the class.
Where dreams came true for some, Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari debut turned into a true nightmare. Before the season began, the hype was enormous and expectations were sky-high. By now, the seven-time world champion – who, aside from his sprint win in China and finishing third in the same event in Miami, failed to score a single Grand Prix podium – can only hope that 2026 will turn out to be better.
While Verstappen could do little up to the summer break with a less competitive RB21, a lot happened in his private life. He was present at the birth of Lily Verstappen, his first daughter with his girlfriend Kelly Piquet – although he already had considerable experience with fatherhood through Kelly’s daughter Penelope.
There was also plenty of talk about a possible move by Verstappen to Mercedes. The unrest within Red Bull didn’t help, and in the end the higher-ups decided to replace Christian Horner with a new team principal in Laurent Mekies. While Verstappen was spotted with Toto Wolff over the summer – a purely friendly metinge according to both parties – he confirmed just before the summer break that he would remain loyal to his team in 2026. Whether he can make another run at the world title in the new year will become clear in a few months.

GPblog’s plans for 2026

In 2025, GPblog took an important step toward a new platform. This was a major step for the team and especially for users, who can now use the much-requested Dark Mode on the website, among other things.
The past year also saw major progress internationally. With Ben Hunt joining as an advisor and columnist, GPblog brought in a recognizable F1 journalist and bestselling author for the English-language edition of the website.
During the winter break, hard work is being done on new steps for 2026. As always, the team works behind the scenes not only to keep you up to date with the latest news, but also to improve the user experience of the website.
In 2026, GPblog, with permanent FIA accreditation in hand, will once again be present at the circuit on a regular basis. This will further improve reporting, as the network continues to grow and readers can be informed earlier and earlier about the latest or even upcoming news.
This accreditation ensures that in 2026, numerous exclusive interviews and stories will once again appear on GPblog, gathered by reporters on site.
Tim Kraaij, editor-in-chief of GPblog.com“In 2025, GPblog took a big step forward. Not only with the move to the new platform, but also with the permanent FIA accreditation. Since GPblog gained that status, more and more doors have been opening and the network keeps expanding.”
“For 2026, the goal is to build on this even further. An even better website for the user, with even more stories that can truly be read first on the fastest F1 website.”
